Numerous historic pubs and hotels have had new life breathed into them with the assistance of BS Steels.
The Ship and Trades, overlooking Chatham Marina, reopened in 2016 after a 3-month refurbishment, boasting “naval heritage meets contemporary style”.
This 19th-century building started life as dockyard offices and an engineering shop. It was taken over by Shepherd Neame in 2001.

Its latest makeover added a stylish glass wrap-around conservatory, creating seating for an additional 80 diners. The outside area has also been upgraded to include new undercover seating with heating. Five new en-suite rooms have been added to the first floor, two with waterfront balconies.
BS Steels’s contribution included creation and installation of the steelwork for the conservatory, stairs, railings with mesh panel infills, and bespoke galvanised gutter supports. The ‘before and after’ pictures give a clear impression of the way in which this property has been brought up to the minute, maximising its location and potential for guests to eat, drink and stay.
