BS Steels was commissioned to renovate and maintain this footbridge. This required to existing bridge to be stripped back to its original structure. Any part of the structure which had delaminated or was damaged in any way was then cut out and replaced. The railway underneath had to remain operational throughout the period, requiring the bridge to be scaffolded and totally encapsulated, with relatively constricted working space.
A feature of the finished bridge is the sleek stainless steel handrail. Sealed within the stainless steel tube is LED lighting. This is a capability that can be transferred to any project requiring stylish handrails with built-in illumination: the location, number of lights and angle of light can all be adjusted to provide the desired arc of light.
