The steel frame for the London Gateway reception building was designed, fabricated and erected in 2012-2013. BS Steels was involved throughout this project.
London Gateway is the UK’s newest deep-sea container port, combined with Europe’s largest logistics park, on the site of a former Shell refinery 25 miles east of central London. Click on the video below for a full explanation.
The gallery below features several stages of the job, starting with 3D drawings, produced in our drawing office, and steelwork being prepared in our workshop. Following the workshop and painting phase, the steelwork was sent to specialist painters for a brilliant white coating. It was then delivered on site, where BS Steels took over again for installation and erection.
The images from the site feature some spectacular views over to the Thames estuary. Note in particular the care taken to protect the high-gloss finish, with the sections remaining in their protective wrapping throughout.
The reception building is one of the most prominent buildings on the site, and the steelwork on view behind glass curtain walling. So BS Steels’ handiwork, including some very special engineering, is on show to all.
