The BS Steels-sponsored kit of Chichester High School boys’ hockey team took a trip out to Hurstpierpoint on 23rd January, for the Boys’ County Cup. A quick summary follows; for a full write-up, please visit Chichester High School website.
First up was 4-0 defeat against a dominant Eastbourne team, despite stout defence and some excellent goal keeping from Luke Denyer.
A different formation was trialled against Sackville, which allowed Sackville to score an early goal. The boys didn’t lose their composure and a well-deserved equaliser was scored by Cameron Smith. In the second half, a firm strike inside the left post by Josh Parker gave Chichester the lead. Unfortunately, the momentum was lost briefly and Sackville snuck in an equaliser that wasn’t really deserved and the game ended 2-2.
The final game was against a very well organised Hurst team. After an even start to the game, Hurst managed to break the deadlock, and two more were added in the second half. The Hurst coaches commented on how well the boys had played and given a good account of themselves.
